The Bruker Autoflex III Smartbeam MALDI-TOF MS is matrix-assisted laser desorption ionization reflectron time-of-flight mass spectrometer. It works in either linear or reflectron configuration with both positive and negative modes. The 200 Hz, 355 nm laser can be focused as small as 10 µm for MALDI imaging applications.
Specifications:
- Source: 200 Hz frequency tripled Nd:YAG laser (355 nm) supports:
- Matrix-assisted laser desorption/ionization (MALDI, positive and negative ion modes)
- Laser desorption/ionization (LDI, positive ion mode)
- 10 µm laser spot size for MALDI imaging (FlexImaging software installed)
- Plates: 384-well stainless steel plate, Bruker AnchorChip, Hudson Surface technology plate (hydrophobic and untreated)
- Mass analyzer: linear time-of-flight or reflectron time-of-flight
- Mass Range: m/z 400-150,000 (linear, MALDI);
- m/z 200-8,000 (reflectron, MALD/LDI)
- Mass accuracy: (all assume quadratic curve fit with 4 calibrants):
- Reflectron, external calibration: ±20 ppm, ±5 ppm internal cal.
- Linear, ext. cal. (m/z < 3000): ±50 ppm, ±20 ppm int. cal.
- Linear, ext. cal. (m/z > 3000): ±150 ppm, ±100 ppm int. cal.
- Resolving Power:
- Reflectron: 12,000 @ m/z 2465 (20,000 possible for narrow ranges)
- Linear: 4,000 @ m/z 2465; 1,000 @ m/z 12,361; 100 @ 66 kDa
