Agilent 6890N Gas Chromatograph (GC) with an Agilent 5973 Inert Mass Selective Detector (MSD)

The Agilent 6890N GC and 5973 Inert MSD is a gas chromatograph with a quadrupole mass spectrometer using electron ionization (EI).

6890N GC Specifications:

  • Dual split/splitless injectors (max temp 450 ˚C)
  • 100 position autosampler (0.1-5 µL injections)
  • Full electronic pressure control (500:1 max split ratio)
  • Both columns go into MSD
    • 15 m 0.25 mm i.d. DB-5MS column on front and 30 m 0.25 mm i.d. DB-5MS column on rear
    • Can use both columns during a sequence with no hardware changes
  • Liquid CO2 cooled oven, temperature range -40 ˚C – +450 ˚C

 

5973 MSD Mass Spectrometer Specifications:

  • Electron ionization (EI) source, positive ions from 2-800 m/z
  • Unit resolution (0.6 Da wide peaks) and mass accuracy (±0.2 Da)
  • Detect 1 pg of C10F8 @ 60:1 signal:noise ratio
  • Scan rate up to 8000 amu/sec
