Agilent 6890N Gas Chromatograph (GC) with an Agilent 5973 Inert Mass Selective Detector (MSD) with a Gerstel MultiPurpose Sampler (MPS)

The Agilent 6890N-5973 MSD is a gas chromatograph with a quadrupole mass spectrometer using electron ionization (EI). The Gerstel MultiPurpose Sampler (MPS) allows for automated sample preparation and introduction.


6890 GC Specification:

  • Split splitless injector (front), Gerstel CIS-4 PTV injector (rear)
  • Full electronic pressure control, up to 500:1 split ratios
  • Oven range: ~30 ˚C – 450 ˚C
  • Usually has 0.25 mm i.d. column installed

 

5973 MSD Mass Spectrometer Specifications:

  • Electron Ionization (EI) 2-800 m/z, positive ions
  • Unit mass accuracy (± 0.2 Da) and resolution (0.6 Da wide peaks)
  • Detect C10F8 @ 60:1 signal:noise ratio
  • Fast scan at up to 8000 amu/sec

 

Gerstel MPS Specifications:

  • 1 sampling head, no tool changer
  • Liquid autosampler (10 µL and 50 µL syringes available)
  • Headspace autosampler (heated, purged 2.5 mL syringe)
  • Heated agitator (up to 150 ˚C, up to 750 rpm) for headspace preparation
  • Can hold 2 rack sample tray with 98 position racks for 1.5 mL vials or 21 position racks for 20 mL vials
